 State the meaning of the term ‘Question Hour’.  - 2019 or What is mean by the term ‘Question Hour’ in the contest of parliamentary procedures in India.  - 2007 Answer : The first hour of a sitting in both Houses of Parliament is allotted for asking and answering of questions. The purpose of the question is to obtain information on a matter of public importance or to discuss some grievance. Generally, the first hour of a sitting of the Lok Sabha is devoted to Questions and that hour is called the Question Hour. The Question Hour keeps the Ministers on their toes. What was the General Service Enlistment Act? ICSE Board-2019, 2013 Answer : According to traditional belief, it was forbidden for Brahmins to cross the ocean. But the British Parliament passed an Act in 1856. The act states that Indian soldiers can be sent abroad for sea duty. This Act is known as the 'General Service Enlistment Act' . This law (about going abroad) went against the religious sentiments of Indian soldiers.
